BINGHAMTON – The Lady Purple Tornado started the second half of their divisional second with a 62-39 road win over the Chenango Valley Warriors Tuesday night.
Norwich jumped out to a 23-4 lead after the first with six different players scoring at least on basket in the stanza. Halea Eaton led the quarter scoring with seven while Sydney Coggins dropped five. Both finished the game with double figures for Norwich as Eaton led all scorers with 14 and Coggins scored 12.
Purple Tornado head coach Josh Bennett stated after the game that his team played a sloppy second quarter, adding 11 points to their score but were out played by the Warriors in the stanza. Chenango Valley cut the Norwich margin down to 14 points as they tallied 16 in the second.
Out of the halftime break, the Tornado played like the team from the first, pulling their game back together to put up 19 on the scoreboard. This time, Norwich had seven players balance the scoring out in the eight minute stretch but it was Eaton leading the way with five points.
The aggressive style of defense that the Purple Tornado play once again limited the offensive production by the Warriors, allowing just eight points in the same quarter.
